Busch and Muller Toplight Plus Review - Technology
The Busch and Muller Toplight Plus has a "bar" of light which spredas along the top of fthe light, which is meant to provide a distance reference to oncoming drivers.
I would estimate the LED strength at 1 to 1.5 watt, and it so bright that is lights up the ground for around 3 - 4 feet at the rear of the bike. Which is ample for a rear light. The packaging states that the light provides 320 degree visibility.
The Busch and Muller Toplight Plus incorporates a stand light which means even if you stop at a junction the light stays on, albeit a little less bright. To me this was the deal clincher, as I would suggest that junctions are where you need to be seen the most.
Busch and Muller Toplight Plus Review - Summary
When buying good kit you expect it to last along time. So in terms of value it will be a few years before I know whether this light was worth the price. However, the performance is very high. This light does not flash, which would be a nice option to have. The stand light idea is brilliant, and maintains the light at around 60% of its full brightness when stopped.
I am powering this on a Shimano Dynohub, which is ideal. But I have used a Busch and Muller Bottle Dynamo which alsos works well.
Update 04/10/13 - On eyear one, stored out side in the rain and this light is still funtioning perfectly.
