www.modelrockets.co.uk / Model Rocket Shop Review

www.modelrockets.co.uk / Model Rocket Shop Review - Intro

I really didn't want to buy my Dad a pair of gardening gloves for his 70th, so I bought him a rocket instead. Bought it from www.modelrockets.co.uk the boxes have to go by courier becuase of the explosives, so postage is expensive.

The stuff tuned uop on next day delivery is exactly as it should be, I got email saying when it was being dispatched etc.

If all interent shopping was this easy I would be a happy man.

Thank you very much, will be back for spares etc.

www.modelrockets.co.uk / Model Rocket Shop Review - What I bought

I bought a kit with two rockets, three motors and launching equipment, the rockets chosen are ready built and require no assembly so dad can fly them on the day.

Luxury Life Style Products Review

Luxury Life Style Products Review - Intro

Prior to house move we were in the market for some solid oak flooring. Ans we found luxury life style products on google product search, and being they were the cheapest and offer a the natural finish we were looking for we thought we would order from them. In total we ordered around 70 metres squared.

Luxury Life Style Products Review - Price

Luxury life style products were the cheapest on google product search.

Luxury Life Style Products Review - Quality

Quality of received product was very high, and matched received samples perfectly. The delivery chap even carried the flooring in to the house on delivery. Very helpful. We opted for  brushed oiled finish, which  look lovely.

Luxury Life Style Products Review -Service

Initial delivery of the main order went very smoothly, and was no hassled at all. Delivery for an extra 2 packs however was a little more tricky with delivery quoted at £70!, so make sure you order enough!

La Marquise Hotel - Rhodes

La Marquise Hotel - Rhodes - Review

Poor Food and Management let this place down. If you can book it for cheap then why not, but don't pay full price you will be disappointed.

La Marquise Hotel - Rhodes - GOOD

1 - The Pool - Best one I have been in.

2 - The Staff (Not Management) - Waiters / Waitresses, Cleaners, Porters all really talkative and happy despite the heat and being totally overstretched.

La Marquise Hotel - Rhodes - BAD

1 - Food - Although this would be good quality for a 3 star hotel the good is not 5 star quality. Evening meals were very repetitive, and there was no juice included with breakfast only orange squash, I would have settled for concentrated juice and been happy with that. . . who drink squash for breakfast?

2 - Noise - Who ever designed this hotel was obviously not having a good day, in the family suite we were staying in the noise from upstairs was terrible, the scrapping of furniture and voices could be plainly heard, and we were woke up (not the kids though) early and kept up late. I am not a light sleeper. This was due (I suspect) to upstair floor tiles being laid directly on to a concrete floor slabs. Not clever.

3 - Location - Don't expect to walk any where from this hotel, you are marooned or paying for taxis. It is a 7 minute walk to the beach which is doable, but they do keep this quiet.

4 - Management - It was peak season and I so I was expecting everything to be overstretched, but the poor cleaning ladies looked fit to drop, they were running between rooms in 40 degree heat, and our bedlinen was unchanged for a 7 day stay, dirty glasses and cups were left in the room for 3 days. This isn't the poor cleaning ladies fault, the management should hire more cleaners, I think there are plenty of people looking for jobs in Greece at the moment . .

If I had paid 3 star prices for this hotel I would have come back home happy . . .

Plusnet - Broadband from Yorkshire. . . .

UPDATE: PLUSNET - THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR

OK so I though things were too good to be true, things came apart when we moved house.

On moving house we rang plus net to say as much. And they insisted that there was no phone line at the new house we were moving to. . . . there was a phone line. Plusnet insisted that they needed to send out an engineer to install a line at a cost of £50. So based on this lot of mumbo jumbo we said we'ed cancel and move to BT.

Oh dear. Apparently we told the wrong person that we wanted too cancel, we would have to ring back and que for another half an hour and talk to some one else. Plusnet do not have the ability to communicate within there company it would seem.

So despite telling them we wanted to cancel we received a bill from a debt collection agency around 3 months later, for £277. Thanks a bunch. "Good HONEST broadband from yorkshire"?

Watch your step.

Plusnet Review - Reliability

Yorkshire Pudding, sin-ominous with Yorkshire (although probably manufactured in Italy nowadays) and of course . . . broadband.

Plusnet are quick to mention they are award winning, but in this day and age when you can print your own award using Microsoft publisher, perhaps we need little more than that.

6 months in and my Plusnet package has NEVER missed a beat, from time to time with AOL I used to get a loss of DSL connectivity, for maybe 1/2 hour a month. With Plusnet this does not happen ever.

The phoneline is just as reliable as BT, probably because it is the same phone line!

Plusnet Review - Customer Service

This is the best bit, you can go on Plusnet's contact page and actual find a telephone number, unlike BT's customer service number which takes hours to find, usually off of a third party website.

One set of choices (option 2), and then straight to an operator, who speaks good English . . . in fact wait a flipping minute . . they are English. With a northern accent and everything.

During my one call I managed to;
  1. Find out what was causing a BT line fault.
  2. Add call divert.
  3. Add a Static IP
  4. Upgrade usage allowance from 10 GB to 60GB.
This all took around 10 minutes, and 1 (yes 1) operator did all of it. No passing around to other people what so ever. Thanks David.

Plusnet Review - Price

When I ditched AOL I was paying £17 a month for broadband. With the extras I subscribe to , Plusnet is about the same price perhaps a few pounds more, but the reliability and customer service more than make up for it.

Well done please don't change.

Sani Village, Greece Review

Sani Village Review

Having had our second child around 6 months ago we decided to go on a "plonk on the beach" holiday, and we couldn't have chosen a better place than Sani Village.

Sani Village forms part of the resort of Sani, which is in Halkadiki, Greece.

Pros

People staying in Sani Village can use the "dine around" option for evening and lunch time meals, meaning you can dine in either of the sister hotels, or a selection of restaurants around the marina. This makes a two week stay a little less monotonous on the food front.

The Aegean sea is great for young kids, clear and calm, there is good snorkelling out along the marina roack groins and the headlands adjacent to the main Sani Baech Hotel, and Snai Beach Club.

The staff are a mix of eastern European and Greek, both providing excellent service.

Cons

Sani Resort is like a world within a world, after a few days you start to feel a bit wierd, all of the shops, cafes, and restaurants are owned by Sani Resort, you may feel a bit claustrophobic.

Prices are HIGH 5 euros for 250ml of beer, and we bought some nappies from the mini mart of 16 euros for a small pack. The exchange rate doesn't help of course (near parity at time of publishing).

If you are used to the Greek islands then you might feel that Halkdiki is lacking in character a bit, there is not much historical stuff around, and on booking a hire car for two days we abandoned the second day, as we felt we had seen enough.

Conclusion

A fantastic place for a relaxing "no brainer" holiday.

Where Fluther Fails

A real life story about Fluther.

An answers site based on jelly fish. . . must be fairly liberal right? Wrong.

Fluther is different to so many other answers sites in that it DOES NOT allow linking to relevant content, references or further learning resources.

I run a number of websites that aims to give people information and advice on the environment, its practical advice, and many of the pages are based on questions I commonly see whilst writing on answers sites, yahoo answers , aol answers, blurtit, wiki answers, answers.com.

I consistently receive best answers in these other sites, I do a thorough job of answering questions, and this means pointing people in the direction of further learning resources, wikipedia, and some of my own web content, I don't even advertise on most of my sites.

Fluther time. So you can imagine my annoyance after spending a couple of hours answering questions on fluther to find fluther had seen fit to bin my answers. I only ever answer questions on the environment because I am educated in that area, so it was the links that were the problem, not the answer content.

So if you intend to use Fluther for SEO purposes, whilst paying your way with your hard earnt expertise, don't bother, the site is run by completely inflexible people, who run a dictatorship disguised as a "community", wikipedia is a community, yahoo answers is a community, fluther is under totalitarian rule. So give it a miss.

I look forward to Fluther's demise.
